Strategic Investments Approved

Athens, 5 June 2020 | The Board of Directors of Enterprise Greece have recommended 6 new investment projects totaling €595,809,000 and which are set to create 1,395 permanent jobs for special investment status and referral to Greece’s Inter-Ministerial Committee on Strategic Investments.


If confirmed by the Inter-Ministerial Committee, the 6 projects will be designated as priority investments of strategic, national importance and will be inducted in Greece’s fast-track licensing and approval process.

Board Chairman Grigoris Dimitriadis, President of Enterprise Greece and Secretary General for International Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that approval of these projects “is of enormous importance for the tourism industry, particularly at this time where Greece is facing the challenges from the impact of the pandemic.”

Mr. Dimitriadis also reiterated the government’s ongoing commitment to support Greek exporters and the country’s business sector in general. He expressed his optimism for future investments, emphasizing how the country’s efforts to contain the outbreak had been recognized internationally and reinforced the message that Greece is a safe tourist and investment destination.

During the board meeting, detailed plans for dealing with the next day of the pandemic were discussed. Board members heard from both Mr. Dimitriadis, and Enterprise Greece CEO Georgios Filiopoulos, about how the agency had adapted to the new conditions, rolling out new digital tools in support of exporters and investors.

The 6 investment projects are:

1. Marina Development at Vlychos, Lefkada, a joint project of the Municipality of Lefkada and the Municipal Port Fund of Lefkada.

2. Development of Mixed Use Resort in the Koumbara Area, Diakofto and Development of a 5-Star Hotel and Bungalow Complex in Tzamaria, Faros on the Island of Ios, by the company 105 A.E.

3. Construction of a 5-Star Boutique Hotel and Traditional Houses in the Area of Pikri Nero on the Island of Ios, by the company Nero S.A.

4. Development of 2 Mixed Use Tourism Resorts of Accommodations and Bungalows in the greater Papas-Loukas-Manousou-Peti-Chamouchades area on the Island of Ios, by the company Lucas A.E.

5. Development of the Varko Mixed Use Tourism Complex in western Greece, by the company RND Investments Greece, a single proprietor private company.

6. Development of the Arcadia Resort and Spa Complex in the area of Kyllini, Peloponnese, by the company Tourism and Hotel Enterprises Kyllini A.E.
