Subsea Connect 2017 Exhibition
Enterprise Greece has organized, for the first time ever, Greek participation in the international Subsea Connect 2017 conference, which took place July 11-12 in Marseilles. Top Greek companies offering hosting and interconnection services for telecommunication networks, specifically: Lamda Hellix, Top.Host and IpHost, made a strong showing at the conference. The Greek participation was extremely successful and highlighted the competitive advantages of Greece and of Greek companies, as well as showcasing the advantages the country offers as a destination for new international submarine telecommunications networks.
Subsea Connect is the only conference in Europe that focuses on the market for submarine cables and international telecommunication networks, attracting the interest of leading industry players. The participation of the Greek delegation aimed at drawing attention to Greece’s strategic geopolitical position, a significant advantage for the country in serving as a transit point linking telecommunication networks in Europe, Asia and Africa.
The Greek delegation was organized by Enterprise Greece to showcase the capabilities of Greek technology companies. Enterprise Greece took the initiative as part of its dual mission to foster export opportunities for Greek businesses engaged in telecommunications, while also promoting Greece as an investment destination for foreign businesses.
During the conference, Mr. Apostolos Kakkos, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lamda Hellix, took part in a panel where the role of data centers in the submarine cable market was discussed, as well as how they could help optimize the quality of telecommunications networks. Following the conference, he said: “Submarine telecommunications networks can play a catalytic role in our country’s digital strategy, helping to establish it as a technology hub for Southeastern Europe/Eurozone.
