Supporting Greek Exporters

Enterprise Greece, in cooperation with national and international partners, is supporting Greek exporters through the pandemic

Athens, 29 April 2020 | Enterprise Greece has undertaken a series of initiatives to support Greek exporters and investors by providing them with timely and useful information to help navigate the coronavirus pandemic, contributing to national efforts to confront the crisis.

Working in close collaboration with other government agencies, Enterprise Greece is providing up-to-the-minute news about export and other restrictions that have been put in place in countries of interest. The agency is also working with other national stakeholders and its international partners to cushion the impact of the crisis on Greek SMEs.

Enterprise Greece’s main efforts to address the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic have focused on:

  • Communicating with stakeholders on the effects of the pandemic on Greek exports.
  • Providing general support to companies affected by the pandemic.
  • Collaborating with all relevant government agencies, at every level, to provide targeted and effective support to companies in areas where the agency has specific responsibility.
  • Cooperating with other European trade promotion organizations with the aim of exchanging practices and jointly exploring ways to deal with the crisis.

Enterprise Greece has already launched a digital information campaign to inform businesses and exporters of the available economic support measures that the government has undertaken in order to mitigate the economic impact of the pandemic on the national economy. At the same time, the social media campaign “Support Greek Exports” is in full swing, with the aim of supporting the industries, products and services that are most affected.

In addition, Enterprise Greece, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Financial and Commercial Affairs Offices, is providing continuous and precise information to Greek exporters about regulatory changes in their export markets due to COVID-19. Information is available on the agency’s website at https://www.enterprisegreece.gov.gr/covid-19-countries-map via a news feed and through an interactive map, showing:

  • Travel restrictions (visitor entry-exit rules, quarantine periods)
  • Flight cancellations (to/from a specific country-region)
  • Trade restrictions (prohibitions on import-export of products)
  • Information on shortages/demand for specific product categories
  • General information on problems created by the pandemic in international trade and business activity

Among the agency’s immediate priorities is the adoption of new promotional tools, such as product flipbooks, FDI testimonials, free internet seminars, etc. to supplement and fill in for the traditional tools used in promoting products and services.

Enterprise Greece’s staff are working remotely to support Greek trade and investment efforts. We continue to operate as normal and to conduct business as usual.
