Enterprise Greece and the Laconia Chamber promote the business ecosystem of the region
Αthens, 21 May 2019|Enterprise Greece and the Laconia Chamber of Commerce jointly organized this month a delegation of foreign diplomats from 17 countries to the region of Laconia and hosted some 300 meetings with local businesses to showcase the investment and export potential of the area.
The visit, which took place May 9-11, is part of Enterprise Greece’s Synergassia initiative to promote local Greek products and services on international markets, to increase exports and to develop business activity in Greece.
Participating in the delegation were representatives from Embassies and Institutions of Argentina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Morocco, Netherlands, Pakistan, Slovakia, South Africa, Uzbekistan and India.
The mission was welcomed by Chamber President Ioannis Panaritis, Sparta Mayor Evangelos Valiotis and Laconia Regional Vice Governor Adamantia Tzanetea.
On Thursday, May 9, Mr. Stergioulis and Mr. Panaritis signed a Memorandum of Collaboration on behalf of Enterprise Greece and the Laconia Chamber, which provides for further cooperation in highlighting the comparative advantages of the region and its investment potential to the international business community.
On the afternoon of the same day, about 300 business meetings were held between the diplomats present and members of the Laconia Chamber.
At the same time, George Papastergiopoulos, Director of Business Information & Support at Enterprise Greece held a seminar entitled: “Taking the right steps for successful export”, while Kostas Papapanagiotou, Deputy General Manager of the Export Credit Insurance Organization, advised businesses on export insurance coverage offered by the agency, and the discounted prices that the Laconia Chamber had secured for its members.
The program included visits to local companies with strong export potential and sites of outstanding beauty and tourism interest such as the castle of Monemvasia and the fortified settlement of Mystras. The commercial visits included: the Mystras Grand Palace Resort & Spa of D. Kaloeidis-G. Kaloeidi Tourist Enterprises; the Agricultural Cooperative for Citrus St. George Laconia Skala (Sparta Orange); the Agricultural Cooperative of Molaon-Pakion; olive oil producers KASELL, ALEA and Sparta Gourmet; dairy products producer Laviogal Kyriazakos; and the Agricultural Cooperative for Citrus Processing of Amikles Sparta “LAKONIA”.
At an event held on Friday, May 10, Laconia’s investment and export profile was presented by Mr. Stergioulis, Mr. Panaritis and Nikos Stamou from the Investment Promotion Directorate of Enterprise Greece. They were joined by Panagiota Nikolakakou, representing Minister for Rural Development and Food, Mr Stavros Arachovitis.
Welcoming remarks were delivered by Matoula Belegri, Member of the Peloponnese Regional Council and, on behalf of the Mayor of Monemvasia, by former Deputy Mayor Katerina Tsafatinou. Distinguished businessman George Sakellaropoulos and Byron Veras, as representative of the firm Monemvasia Winery G. Tsibidis & Co., presented two signature products from the region: olive oil and wine.
