Workshop aimed at attracting Spanish investment- Incrising interest by Spainish companies for investments in Greece

Athens, October 25, 2023 | Enterprise Greece and the Embassy of Madrid, in collaboration with the Madrid Chamber of Commerce and the Spanish-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce, hosted a workshop targeted at promoting Spanish investments in Greece.
On October 17, 2023, the workshop was held in a specially prepared hall of the Chamber of Madrid (Cámara Madrid) in the presence of 70 guests, including leaders of prominent Spanish corporate organizations and institutions.
The event started with Mrs. Eva Serrano, Vice-President of the Chamber, who was followed by a video message by Mr. Elias Fotopoulos, Greek Ambassador, and a brief greeting by Mr. Andreas Pappas, President of the Spanish-Hellenic Chamber. Mr. Pantelis Gasios, Counsellor for Economic and Commercial Affairs A’ and Head of the Madrid Economic and Financial Services Office, gave a quick overview of the Greek economy, bilateral trade and investment connections, and forecasts for future growth.
On behalf of Enterprise Greece, Mrs. Hilda Alysandratou, Director of Investment in Tourism, Real Estate, and Creative Industries, and Mr. Nikos Stamou, Director of Investment in Energy, Environment, and Services, presented the investment opportunities that
Greece offers in tourism infrastructure, as well as the large flow of investments that exists in the sectors of renewable energy sources, energy infrastructure, and the food and beverage industry.
Finally, Mr. Nikos Sergis, Director of the Ministry of National Economy and Finance’s Public Private Partnerships Unit, discussed the institutional framework of PPPs and the investment opportunities available in Greece in public-private partnership projects, primarily infrastructure projects.
Representatives of two Spanish groups with a successful investment presence in Greece made positive references to our country’s business climate and the helpful role performed by Enterprise Greece as a “one-stop-shop” of Greek governmental organizations. Mr. Luis Picas Asmarats, Investment Director of Hotel Investment Partners Group (investing in the Greek hotel business), and Mr. Carlos Piar Celestino, CEO of Elmya S.A. Group (investing in solar and renewable energy storage systems in Greece).
It is worth noting that immediately after the presentations, representatives of seven major Spanish business groups/institutions participated in networking contacts (b2b meetings) with representatives of Enterprise Greece, the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, and the OEY Madrid office.
