Three-Day Mission to the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace
Showcasing the Region as a Business Hub within the Synergassia Program
Athens, 29 May 2025 – Enterprise Greece, in collaboration with the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (REMTH) and the Economic and Commercial Diplomats Club (ECDC) in Greece, organized a three-day business mission to the Region from 21 to 23 May 2025, within the framework of the Synergassia program.
Synergassia is a flagship initiative of Enterprise Greece, implemented for the past two decades. It aims to enhance the international outreach of Greek Regions and connect them with the global business community. Through targeted actions, the program highlights each region’s comparative advantages and strengthens its international image as emerging business hubs, adding value to key and strategic sectors for the local and broader economy.
At the heart of the program lies the organization of on-site missions to Greek Regions, coordinated in partnership with the respective Regional Authorities and ECDC.
Representatives of embassies and organizations from 21 countries and entities attended the REMTH mission, including Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Estonia, France, Hungary, Japan, Kosovo (Interests Office), Latvia, Lithuania, Morocco, North Macedonia, Pakistan, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, South Africa, the United States, Finland, and the German Trade and Invest (GTAI) agency.
During the mission, the 24 participants visited businesses and facilities across all Regional Units of REMTH. They also received briefings from Deputy Regional Governors, local institutions, and Chambers of Commerce about the area’s development opportunities and strategic advantages.
On the first day, the Governor of the Region, Mr. Christodoulos Topsidis, officially welcomed the delegation. Presentations followed by:
- The REMTH Managing Authority for the NSRF, on the recent OECD report regarding the Region’s attractiveness,
- Alexandroupolis and Kavala Port Authorities,
- Democritus University of Thrace.
The program included visits to production units of companies known for their strong export activity and innovation, such as:
- Dasteri Systems
- Prisma Electronics SA
- Thermoelectric Komotini SA
- Macedonian Thrace Brewery
- Thrace Plastics
- Sunlight Group
- Raycap
The mission concluded with briefings from the Deputy Governors of Kavala and Drama and the respective Chambers of Commerce on entrepreneurship, the dynamics of local markets, and actions to support exports.
Finally, thematic presentations were delivered by:
- The Association of Marble Enterprises of Macedonia-Thrace (SEMTH),
- The Drama Wine Producers Association, showcasing the significant role of these sectors in the region’s economy and international markets.
