Making Europe a Magnet for Tech Talent – Εnterprise Greece signs cooperation agreement with associations and agencies across Europe for attracting tech talent
On the sidelines of the “Building Europe’s Digital Sovereignty” Conference, organized by the Ministry of Development and Investment and the French Ministry of European Affairs on 8 February 2022, Enterprise Greece took the initiative for greater cooperation across Europe to attract tech talent.
In a conference event focused on Scale Up Europe, which aims to make Europe home to 10 tech giants by 2030, Enterprise Greece spearheaded bringing together the EU peer associations and state agencies, charged with attracting tech talent, to jointly sign a Declaration of Intent for Cooperation. The initiative will be implemented in close cooperation with the European Startup Nations Alliance (ESNA).
The European partners involved in this effort undertake:
1) to share information and best practices on mechanisms for attracting international talent to their domestic tech ecosystems.
2) to develop proposals, through the establishment of a working group by the end of 2022, for the creation of an “European Tech Talent Help Desk,” to augment national efforts.
According to the State of European Tech 2021 report, the European tech ecosystem has now exceeded the symbolic startup funding milestone of $100 billion ($121 billion in 2021, more than three times the $37 billion raised in 2020). The number of European unicorns is growing at an unprecedented rate, indicating the rapid growth of European startups.
Highly skilled human resources are a key factor in attracting investment, and a priority for Enterprise Greece. With the first unicorn, Viva Wallet, recently emerging from the maturing Greek startup ecosystem, Enterprise Greece is committed to making Europe a hub of innovation and a home for developing future tech giants.
