Enterprise Greece brings 30 foreign diplomats to Central Greece as part of the Synergassia programme

Thirty Commercial and Economic Counsellors of Foreign Embassies in Greece held 800 prescheduled Β2Β meetings with enterprises from Central Greece as part of the Synergassia programme. The meetings were part of a four-day business visit organised jointly by Enterprise Greece and the Region of Central Greece with the contribution of local chambers of commerce from 13 to 16 April 2016. Diplomats from the embassies of Canada, China, Cyprus, Egypt, Hungary, Indonesia, Jordan, Ireland, Israel, Kazakhstan, Peru, the Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Tunisia, the USA and Uzbekistan had the chance to get to know the local business dynamic and explore broader cooperation opportunities.
The Synergassia programme is implemented by Enterprise Greece in partnership with the Greek regions. Its objective is to promote Greece and its regions internationally, to encourage local economies to be more outward looking, to promote the Greek production and the local competitive advantages and investment opportunities.
To this end, Synergassia in Central Greece involved visits to factories and key businesses in Fthiotida, Evia, Viotia and Fokida, in particular, the companies Sabo S.A., Elval S.A., SKL – Sklapani Brothers, Domaine Hatzimichalis and Galaxidi Marine Farm S.A.
The foreign diplomats were also informed about the investment and export potential of the region during an event on “The Business Profile of Central Greece – Opportunities & Prospects”. Speeches were made by the Minister for Rural Development & Food, Evangelos Apostolou and the General Secretary of the Ministry of Economy, Development and Tourism, Elias Xanthakos. The Governor of the Region of Central Greece, Kostas Bakoyannis, and the Chairman of Enterprise Greece, Christos Staikos, also addressed the event.
Meanwhile, a seminar was organised for SMEs in the region to inform new exporters about new markets and the instruments of economic diplomacy available by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Finally, the Governor of the Region, Kostas Bakoyannis, and the CEO of Enterprise Greece, Velissarios Dotsis, signed a Cooperation Agreement between the Region of Central Greece and Enterprise Greece.
