Greece hosts visit from Liquor Control Board of Ontario officials to leading Greek wine regions

Athens, September 9, 2022 | Enterprise Greece and the National Interprofessional Organization of Vine and Wine (EDOAO) organization this month hosted top officials from the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO), showcasing the leading wine regions of the country and opening up new and expanded prospects for Greek wine exports to Canada.
On the initiative of EDOAO, and with the support of Enterprise Greece, LCBO officials visited Athens, Thessaloniki and key wine growing regions from September 9-19 attending a series of events and special tastings in which 70 wineries and more than 300 labels participated. The Ontario delegation included George Soleas, President & CEO of LCBO, Vice President Abhay Garg, and two other top executives.
In remarks made in the context of the visit, EDOAO President Konstantinos Efstathiou noted that Canada is viewed as a strategic market for Greek wine exports and saluted the ongoing efforts of Enterprise Greece and the Greek Office of Economic and Commercial Affairs in Toronto for their support.
Betty Alexandropoulou, Executive Director and Member of the BoD of Enterprise Greece, stated: “The Canadian market is a very important market for Greek food products, due to the thriving Greek community, the high standard of living of Canadian consumers and the EU-Canada Trade Agreement, which opens us new trade opportunities. Greek wine has great potential for growth in this market and that is why Enterprise Greece supports, in collaboration with EDOAO and our Office of Economic and Commercial Affairs in Toronto, significant promotional activities, such as inviting and hosting senior executives from the Liquor Control Board of Ontario in Greece.”
