Greek biotech companies participate in BIO-Europe 2022 exhibition

Athens, 2 November 2022 |Eight Greek biotechnology companies participated in the recent BIO-Europe 2022 international exhibition for the first time, holding more than 90 business-to-business meetings with industry professionals across Europe, North America and Asia to develop international partnerships.
Greek participation in the exhibition, held in Leipzig, Germany 24-26 October, was co-organized by Enterprise Greece and the Hellenic Bio cluster (HBio). Prior to the event, the two organizations also organized a series of meetings with industry representatives at the technology and research center Bio City Leipzig, as well as a networking event for participants during the exhibition.
The eight Greek biotech companies, which included four startups, two small- to medium-sized businesses, and eight leading manufacturers, held meetings with industry executives from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, UK, USA, Japan, India, Ireland, Spain, Israel, Italy, Canada, Mauritius, South Korea, Netherlands, Thailand and Finland. The meetings explored the potential for the joint manufacturing and distribution of products, co-development of new diagnostic products, the granting of platform access to third parties for diagnostic tests, the co-development of drugs and new biomarkers, and the provision of services to original product pharmaceutical companies.
Marinos Giannopoulos, CEO of Enterprise Greece stated: “The life sciences sector, and especially the biotechnology sector, are among the most dynamic sectors in Greece, both with respect to their potential for attracting new productive investments to Greece, and in their ability to provide the kinds of innovative products and services that our country could successfully export. Enterprise Greece is committed to promoting the innovative sectors of the Greek economy internationally, and collaborating with HBio on the Greek participation in BIO-Europe 2022 is an important part of that.”
Ioanna Koukli, the Chairman of the Hellenic Biocluster (HBio), pointed out: “The Hellenic Biocluster (HBio), true to its vision for the continuous support of Greek startups and small- and medium-sized businesses, organized its first ever participation to the international BIO-Europe 2022 exhibition. HBio members had the opportunity to hold business meetings, expand their networks and promote, products, services and knowhow, that will lay the foundation for future collaboration. HBio will continue to organize outreach activities in order to continuously offer its members connectivity to the global scientific community, as well as access to new markets.”
The eight HBio members participating were the companies: Anacalypsis Therapeutics, BIOPIX DNA Technology P.C. (BIOPIX-T), ELPEN Pharmaceutical Co. Inv., Galenica S.A., Oncolipsy, Pharmacist Ltd., Protavio, ResQ.
