Resort & Residential Hospitality Forum 2022- New investment opportunities for Greece

Athens, 21 October 2022 | Enterprise Greece participated, along with 400 executives of the tourism industry from 20 countries, in the Resort & Residential Hospitality Forum (R&R), to present the investment opportunities in the Greek hospitality industry. The Forum brings together investors, manufacturers, hoteliers, international brands and professionals in the industry to forge new connections and discover what lies ahead for 2022 and beyond.


The R&R Forum, previously known as the Mediterranean Resort & Hotel Forum (MR&H), organized by Questex, took place in Algarve, Portugal, on 17-19 October 2022. The Forum is focused on investment in the hospitality industry, mainly real estate, and on the development and operation of complex tourism resorts in the wider Mediterranean region.

During the Forum, Enterprise Greece consultants held 35 one-on-one meetings with hospitality investors from Spain, France, Italy and the United Kingdom. They presented the investment opportunities that Greece offers in the tourism and real estate sectors, as well as the matchmaking services between foreign and Greek enterprises offered by Enterprise Greece.

Top executives from international hotel brands, real estate development companies and funds offered their insights on the Mediterranean hospitality market during the Forum, with a focus on optimal development models, as well as the excellent prospects for Mediterranean hospitality.

Marinos Giannopoulos, CEO of Enterprise Greece, participated in an investment panel titled: “Eastern Mediterranean: The Next Growth Opportunities in Diversifying Markets.” The other panelists were: Kalia Konstantinidou, Vice President of the Kanava Hotels & Resorts and Tiago Venancio, responsible for the development of new hotels of the Fosun Tourism Group. The panel discussion was moderated by Ioannis Orfanos, Partner of Arbitrage Real Estate.

Mr. Giannopoulos showcased Greece’s potential in tourism, a vital sector for the Greek economy and presented Greece’s latest tourism awards. He highlighted the new projects that have already been implemented and emphasized the favorable Greek investment and tax framework, which offers incentives to attract investment and human resources.

The other panelists outlined the growth dynamics of tourism and especially the new forms that are developing in the sector, combining recreation, well-being and relaxation, which harmonize well with Greece’s tourism product and natural environment. Special reference was made to the excellent performance of Greek tourism this year. The 2022 season saw record arrivals and revenues, which is attributed to the recent activity in tourism investment and the upgrading of the Greek tourism product.
