WindEnergy Hamburg 2022: Enterprise Greece showcases prospects for wind energy in Greece

Athens, 30 September 2022 | Enterprise Greece participated in WindEnergy Hamburg 2022, the most influential international trade fair on wind energy, to highlight the investment opportunities that Greece offers for the wind industry. Consultants from the agency held 22 business meetings during the event with companies that are internationally active in the development of onshore and offshore wind farms.

WindEnergy Hamburg 2022 took place from 27 to 30 September, 2022 and drew more than 1,400 exhibitors, including six Greek companies, and hosted 30,000 visitors. The event provides a platform for manufacturers, financiers, energy providers and renewable energy project developers from around the world to review the latest trends in the industry, present innovative products and services, and develop new partnerships and growth opportunities.

During the meetings, Enterprise Greece consultants briefed executives from foreign companies on recent regulatory developments in Greece relevant to wind energy, including offshore wind farms, energy storage, new licensing procedures, and a new framework for renewable energy tenders. They also highlighted the range of investment opportunities that are developing in the sector as the country emerges as a regional energy hub that is attracting growing international interest.

Most of the foreign companies contacted are either in the process of investigating investment opportunities in Greece, or are already active in the country and planning further development with new investment projects.

The importance of wind energy in Greece is growing, particularly in light of current circumstances where energy prices have surged on world markets as a result of the war in Ukraine. Greece has enormous potential to exploit a range of RES technologies, which are a key option for weaning the country off fossil fuels and improving energy security.
